Summer is almost here and for music lovers, that means the best season of all – festival season! Long live indie is our motto and Way Home brings that to life from July 24-26, with some of the biggest independent artists coming together for this brand new festival.

Where?

The festival is held at the Burls Creek Event Grounds, in Oro-Medonte, Ontario – just outside of Barrie, Ontario.

Line up

Some of us are very surprised to see names like Neil Young on the docket, I know I was. Last year was supposed to be the last of his shows, but with his upcoming new studio album with Promise of The Real,  The Monsanto Yearson June 29th via Reprise Records, he isn’t calling it time yet. Expect Neil Young to deliver a powerful ecological and environmentally-focused message.

Elsewhere, Sam Smith, who’s currently in recovery in a Boston hospital after successful surgery on a hemorrhaged vocal cord is set to be back on tour by July 18th and hence, will still be able to perform at the festival.

HozierHozier

Moreover, from well-known artists like Alt-J (whose song “Left Hand Free” is to be featured alongside The Rolling Stones and The Killers on the new Guitar Hero Live game) and Hozier (who recently took home the Billboard awards for top rock artist and top rock song), to names that we will surely come to love but aren’t aware of yet, it’ll undoubtedly be a weekend filled with many memories and mellifluous sounds from start to finish.

Festival goers can expect to get the full experience out of this one. Performances from artists and bands that haven’t played together for a while, as well as ones that you just can’t get enough of, no matter how much you see them. Broncho coming to mind first. The powerfully grungy in a way we haven’t seen since the 90’s, but still energy fueled act that played three times at Canadian Music Week – including the indie awards – is back to sweep attendees off their feet with their wicked music and “ow, ow, ow, owww” howls from the vocalist following almost every song.

So get ready to enjoy the ones people outside of the music community know and fall in love with some new, awesome acts at the festival that’s known for getting you to put down that damn smartphone and enjoy the real world for a bit.
